Free crochet leaf pattern with pics

I'm not sure if this will be of interest to anyone but I needed some leaves for a project and this is what I came up with.

I used a small amount of worsted weight and a 3.75 hook
It measures 3 inches long.
You can make your leaves larger or smaller
by changing the yarn weight and the hook size.
I also left a long tail when I began my chains
so that I could connect other leaves.

Directions:
Ch 14
Row1: Work one sc in second chain from hook, sc in next 3 chs, dc in next 5 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in next chain, 2 sc in last ch.

Row2: You will now need work on the bottom loops(see picture below)
Work sc in next 2 loops, hdc in next 2 lps, dc in next 5 lps, sc in next 4 lps, sl st to join in 1st sc (from Row 1)
Fasten off and weave in end.

I also drew a symbol chart and included an explanation of the symbols.

I don't know how you dare say you designed that leaf, I have
seen hundreds like it. I was looking for a large leaf, something like a Maple.
Anyway I suppose you are trying!

LOL!
I did design this leaf on my own.
I sat down 2 years ago and decided to figure out how to make a simple, oval shaped leaf.
And of course I realize that others probably have made leaves in the same way if they want them to be simple ovals...I have never claimed otherwise.

What I do claim is copyright on this post (words and pictures) so that no one can claim it as their own work.
I have in fact had to add this to many of my posts since I HAVE found my posts copied and pasted on
other sites as parts of advertisements.
Perhaps you should ask for the facts first before making a rude comment,
especially anonymously.

Hello Suki Girl,
I am quite new to the art of Crochet. I saw a lovely " something" on the net I don't know what it is called but it was a crocheted string with leaves and marigold flowers hanging from it - that you can hang across the door - entrance of your house. I kind of have an idea how to do this. it would be like 3-4 lines of DC across the door length and then it had a Mango leaf and a Marigold hanging alternatively.
Your pattern for the leaf will help me a lot. I was wondering if you would like to share a pattern of Marigold flower with me. The Patterns that are available on the net are more like pansies and less like marigolds.
Thank you for making Crochet so easy by explaining the design by drawing it. I have not seen that any where else. Cheers - Roxana

Hi Roxana, I'm glad my little leaf is helpful.
I don't have a marigold pattern (the flower shown here came from a library book.
I googled free crochet marigold patterns and then clicked on images.
I found a huge number of crochet marigold images that link to the pattern.
I hope that helps you and I'd love to hear how it turns out.
cheers suki

Thank you for your leaf pattern. I like the way you responded to the snide anonymous comment. I was making up my own patterns for leaves as well but I like yours better.

This looks lovely and simple for a beginner like me - thank you. It's great to have clear instructions and photos on one page. My kids have been finger-crocheting long green chains to be vines hanging from their bedroom ceiling, and I'm going to crochet and knit some flowers and leaves for them!

Thank you Edward and Angela...I almost deleted this post a while back thinking it was too simple
but I remembered what it was like to be a beginner crocheter :-)

Thank you Omara,
isn't it sad that a person went out of her/his way to leave a comment like that.
Thank you for adding your sweet comment, I really appreciate it!
