I was cleaning out the crawl space in
my laundry room today and found this.
In 1977 ( pre-children, pre-husband),
when I had loads of time,
I decided to try embroidery for the first time.
Being young, I decided to tackle a fairly large project
so I bought a this crib sized Peter Rabbit cover.
My stitches aren't too bad for a beginner
but I only managed to embroider this one panel
but I did finish all the words in the other panels
Then I quit.
Here is an overall picture of what
it could look like.
I still have all the embroidery thread
and the instructions so I'm going to
set this aside for a winter project.
I have no idea how far I'll get but
hope springs eternal.

How very cool! You did a great job on the beginning of it and I hope you do finish it.
Wow! Pretty darn good for a beginner! What a great winter project, hope you'll get it done. It would make a lovely baby shower gift.
Thanks...if I do finish it then I'll keep it for a future grandchild.
I do have an idea for a practice piece that is pretty simple.

I am a fan of Beatrix Potter. When I taught school I would do a unit on her books and celebrate it with a Peter Rabbit party in Oct. rather than celebrate Holloween.

I love the soft colors and the stories themselves. I have quite the collection of her books and many other items. I remember mom reading the story to me about this naughty rabbit and I could relate to it. When a baby is born to a family memeber or friend I try to give them something related to the Tale of Peter Rabbit. I hope to embroiry something soon. Thanks for sharing.

My mum just made a crib sized quilt made from Peter Rabbit fabric for her latest great-grandchild. I ended up making small bibs with some of the fabric but I wish I had bought more to tuck away for another project.
I still have my kids' stuffed Peter toys that I bought in England years ago.
Unfortunately I do not know hgow to knit. I sew. I made a lot of items. I have two different types of blankets, pillows, bibs and many other things. I made two bunny dresses as well.
